This Full Moon is a combination of a Lunar eclipse and the annual festival of Holi.

The Full Moon in Leo begins on March 12th at 10:06 pm pacific until March 13th at 11:54 pm.  The eclipse happens at the end of the full moon with the maximum point at 11:54 pm and the maximum window (with the maximum visibility) from 11:30 pm-12:30 am.  This is a total eclipse and will be visible in North and South America.

The moon will turn red in the sky, and it will likely be tempting to look, but it is never advised to look at an eclipse. Eclipses are ruled by the Nodes, Rahu and Ketu, which can increase our confusion and delusion, and so looking directly at the eclipse can increase these attributes.

The most indicated actions during an eclipse are to do mantra, fast, and keep the mind calm.  As it will be night for many sleep is of course an option.  Eclipses are said to magnify, so doing spiritual practice or any positive action during this window will increase its positive effects. The most important thing is to not engage in negative actions during this time. Full moon eclipses tend to be an excess of energy, so it is not uncommon to feel a bit disregulated in the days leading up to and after an eclipse. This eclipse is opposed by Saturn in Aquarius, which can intensify feelings of obstacles and even despair.

This is also the Full Moon of Holi, the famous festival of colors throughout India.  Holi heralds the arrival of spring with enthusiasm and brightness.  The story of Holi is summarized through the triumph of righteousness, and of harvest and fertility. It is a very celebrated and auspicious day.  On a practical level, Holi is a holiday that reminds us to forgive the wrongs of others, and wish good-will to those around us.

As eclipses come in pairs, this eclipse is followed by another Solar eclipse two weeks later on March 29th.  As a solar eclipse is also a New Moon, here we are combining two events that are less favorable.  This one also coincides with the transit of Saturn into Pisces, and a very overactive sign of Pisces with 6 planets there.  More on that next time.

With a series of eclipses and retrogrades, along with Saturn changing signs this month, there is a lot of prediction of instability and unrest coming up in March.  As always, when the outer events get rocky the best thing we can do is focus on keeping the inner calm and peaceful.  Oftentimes eclipses pass with little effect to us personally, but on that occasion that you have felt something significant, it is because of another important line up in your birth chart.

Reach out if you would like support and to examine how this particular eclipse cycle will affect you personally.

Love and Blessings,
