The Sun entered sidereal Aries on April 13th, marking the Solar New Year in the Vedic calendar.  This is a very strong position for the Sun, lasting until May 14th.  Aries is the sign of the self and of outer world success. It acts first and thinks later, which can be very useful for achievement, but can also lend itself to accidents and mistakes.  The best use of this Aries solar energy is to take bold but measured steps over the next month.

When the Moon meets the Sun at 3 degrees Aries early tomorrow morning on April 17th at 4:51 am Pacific time, this New Moon will culminate.  At the time of writing, this phase has already begun.  New Moons are considered inauspicious for most worldly activities, and really only favors spiritual practice and ancestor rituals.  If you can, take it easy today and avoid any new starts.

This New Moon falls in the lunar house of Ashwini, a deeply healing position.  Ashwini is connected with the divine physicians and with rapid, deep healing.

The energy of new beginnings and renewal from these two events is potent but not quite ripe.  Akshaya Tritiya, the never-diminishing day, falls on Sunday April 19th throughout the world.  This is an annual event where the Sun and Moon are both exalted, carrying a unique and enduring potency.  There are many myths that speak to the ‘miraculous’ nature of this day, but at its core, whatever is begun on this day is said to grow and does not decrease.

For this reason, it is an ideal day for intentional and positive action.  One can buy gold and silver to increase wealth, give donations to increase virtue, and engage in spiritual practice and rituals to increase merit.  Lakshmi, Vishnu and Kubera are commonly worshipped on this day, as they are the bringers of prosperity and contentment.

Love and Akshaya Tritiya Blessings to all!
