Happy Sharad Purnima!

Sharad Purnima this year begins on October 5th at 23:54 pacific time and culminates on October 6th at 20:47. In the US this beautiful full moon spans two nights!

Sharad Purnima marks the beginning of the harvest season, and in India the end of the rainy season.  In the US the end of the rainy season is not as relevant, but most of us are feeling this change of seasons, and the internal call that arises as the weather gets cooler. These shifts in weather can bring shifts in our mood, energy, and mental health.  It is important in this season to tend to our inner landscape, just as the farmers tend to their outer harvest. There are various practices from the Jyotish perspective we can do to support this transitional time.

This full moon is for Lakshmi, the goddess who blesses up with wealth and bounty. It is said that this moon holds all its 16 phases, and its rays are imbued with divine nectar.  It is a night that what we put items out in the moonlight to absorb the beneficial energy.  We can put any of our ritual items, water, or more traditionally a homemade sweet (kheer, a rice sweet) out in the moonlight to get charged.  We can stand in these rays ourselves to receive the blessings of Lakshmi!

May all receive the abundance of the Goddess!

Love and Blessings,

Mrin

With these shifts I encourage you to stay connected with your community.  In this global world, online communities have become a part of our everyday landscape.

I offer a few options for this.

Our 12-week Jyotish Fundamentals has just gotten underway. There is still time to join our 3-month journey where we delve into the core principles of Jyotish and build from the beginning a foundation for deeper studies.  This is also a great course to glean information from another perspective for your already existing healing practice.

Lunar Woman Jyotish is a bi-monthly woman’s group where we look at the lunar movement and any important astrological happenings over the weeks. We look at how to best work with that energy- noticing the most positive days and the days to avoid each fortnight.  This group needs no astrological background and is also suitable for a beginner to intermediate level knowledge of the sky.

Both of these offerings also have WhatsApp groups that promote connection and community!

I have a few small study groups that support students at various levels of study.  Wherever you are in your study journey you can reach out for support.

And finally, I am available for private consultations to support you in any way that I can.
