Hanuman Jayanti
is celebrated on the Full moon in the Vedic month of Chaitra. This full moon culminates on April 12th at 5:21 pm pacific, making the night of Friday April 11th the night to see the moon at its fullest in the sky. This is a full moon in the last degrees of Virgo, which means that even though the eclipse has passed the moon is still all comingled with the busy sign of Pisces. Give a little more time and space for situations to even out. Eclipse effects can be said to last for 3 months (potentially the end of June!) but likely calmer days will come by the end of May.
In the meantime, take this night of the 11th or the day of the 12th to either remember Hanuman in his form or symbol. Hanuman is the famous devotee of Rama, who literally moved mountains in the name of his devotion. His is remembered for not only his physical strength, but for the protection that he offers. Chanting the Hanuman Chalisa or a Hanuman mantra is indicated in this time window in honor of him.
Symbolically, Hanuman represents our devotion, as he was considered the greatest devotee. We can take this full moon to contemplate who and what we are devoted too and see if we can perhaps go a little bit deeper with that faith. We can become a warrior of the divine as Hanuman was so known for and strive to become a little truer to whatever it is that we stand with and for in our life.
The day after the full moon (April 13th) is yet another New Year, this time in the East Indian calendar, where the Sun moves into Sidereal Aries. The Sun gains strength in this sign of Aries, where we can harness this energy into bold action when the moment feels right. By the end of the weekend, all the planets will be moving in a direct motion, so little by little we can start to feel the hopefulness of emergent spring.
Maha Mritunjaya Puja
Our next Mritunjaya Puja will be on Thursday April 10th at 6 pm pacific.
The Maha Mritunjaya Mantra fire ceremony is the most widely used ceremony for strengthening vitality and overcoming health issues.
Any donation that exceeds the priest’s cost will be donated to Swasthya Swaraj Society, an NGO in East India that helps give access to healthcare to people who can not afford it. This will be the ongoing place that I will give all excess donations to.
The puja is open and free to all, a donation for attendance is appreciated but not required. While all will gain benefit from attending, the main benefit is reaped from those who name is given in the opening prayer. If you would like to have your name or someone else’s put in the healing intention you can offer a donation here and send me a message here with the name and nakshatra if you know it. The puja will be 2-3 hours long, and you are welcome to attend part or all of the ceremony.
Here is the zoom link for all who wish to attend.
Love and Blessings,
Mrinmoyee
