This month’s Full Moon begins on March 31st at 6:36 pm Pacific Time and culminates on April 1st at 7:11 pm. It rises in the sign of Virgo and the lunar house of Hasta.
The Mercury-ruled sign of Virgo represents our analytical and critical mind. Mercury governs all forms of communication and the gathering of information. While it is also connected to outward expression, Virgo reflects a more internalized expression of Mercury- how we process, organize, and make sense of what we take in.
Mapped to the natural 6th house of the zodiac, Virgo is also connected to the stomach and our ability to digest. There has certainly been a lot to digest recently, and those with predominance of Virgo may feel this more acutely- showing up as heightened sensitivity in the nervous system and a stronger reaction to stressors.
The lunar house of Hasta, where this Full Moon falls, is connected to the hands. These hands can be used for creative or healing pursuits, or they can form into fists. Symbolically, this reflects both our nature of giving and how we respond to adversity. Are we extending our hands with something to offer, well-resourced with healing and care? Or when we sense distress do our hands close into to fists of defensiveness?
This Full Moon carries a notable malefic influence, as it is aspected by both Mars and Saturn. This may increase our tendency to react, to defend, or to fight rather than to give. With this awareness, we can consciously watch our hands and our words and ideally soften the potential for harm in our responses in this lunar cycle.
April 1st is also Hanuman Jayanti, the birthday of Hanuman. He represents both strength (shakti) and devotion (bhakti) and is closely associated with Mars. Hanuman is invoked for courage, determination and resilience yet he is also known as the greatest devotee, emphasizing his open and generous heart.
We can call upon Hanuman to help us move through adversity with both strength and softness. He helps us to meet challenges with courage, while keeping the heart steady, open, and devoted.
Love and Blessings,
Mrin
