Full Moon in Scorpio
Jyestha Nakshatra
This Full Moon culminates on June 11th at 00:43 pacific time, making the night of June 10th the night to see it at its fullest. This Full Moon is in the sign of Scorpio and the Lunar House of Jyestha. Though Full Moons are generally favorable, the Moon feels uncomfortable in the sign of Scorpio. As the Moon represents our mind and our sense of well-being, the ever changing, deep, secretive and mysterious sign of Scorpio makes the Moon feel insecure and even unstable. Allow yourself extra grace for the changing emotional tides and turbulence that is expected in the terrain of Scorpio.
The Lunar House of this Full Moon is Jyestha, the last one of the sign of Scorpio. Jyestha is ruled by Indra, the famed king of the Gods- much like Zeus, Odin or Thor in other traditions. His name means ‘the eldest’ and with it comes themes of authority, seniority, and responsibility. Jyestha invites us to examine how we carry the authority that we hold, and the power we have over others. Are we guided by dharma or ego driven satisfactions?
The sign of Scorpio and the Nakshatra of Jyestha hold both this high level of awareness and temptation. While Indra is that mighty king, he has also been known for his love of pleasure and passions. Scorpio is the seat of passions and addictions and has a lot to teach us about how these forces play out in our lives. Scorpio does not demand abstinence, in fact just the opposite, but it does have us question how much space do our indulgences occupy in our lives?
Mars and Ketu
This week sees another major transit, likely the most significant one of the summer. Mars entered Leo on June 6th, where he will remain until July 28th.
While Mars prefers fiery Leo over watery Cancer where it had been for the last few months, it now joins the south node Ketu who is already stationed in Leo. This fiery Mars Ketu conjunction can be volatile- sparking irrationality, impulsivity, and accidents rooted in distraction or haste.
Of course, and as always, the effects vary greatly based on where this falls in your chart and your current planetary periods. But as a general guideline- go a bit slower, check your impatience and minimize distractions when it counts over these next 7 weeks. The maximum proximity of the transit is from July 21-23, so pay particular attention to that window.
If you’d like help navigating these currents, feel free to reach out to book a session.
Love and Blessings,
