This month’s Full Moon in Scorpio is upon us, culminating on May 31st at 1:44 am pacific time, making tonight May 30th the ideal time to see the Moon at its fullest in the sky. Scorpio is where the Moon is considered debilitated. While Scorpio can bring emotional intensity, vulnerability, and instability, this Full Moon falls in Anuradha nakshatra—a constellation associated with devotion, friendship, loyalty, and our bonds with others. Anuradha reminds us that even in difficult emotional terrain, the heart can remain connected through the bonds of relationship, and that transformation doesn’t have to happen in isolation. We can thrive when we prioritize our human relationships, that success can come through interdependence. The deity, Mitra, rules friendships and reminds us of the importance of honoring our commitments and agreements to others.
This moon is also regarded as a Blue Moon, when two Full Moons happen in one calendar month. Despite the rarity attached to its name, Blue moons do occur every few years. Yet this particular one with all the other happenings in the sky perhaps becomes a more significant turning point of opportunity.
At the same time that this Full Blue Moon occurs, Jupiter, Mercury, and Venus are forming a beautiful Saraswati Yoga in Gemini, which began yesterday and continues through June 1st. Saraswati Yoga is traditionally associated with learning, communication, teaching, writing, study, and the refinement of knowledge. This is an excellent period for organizing ideas, preparing presentations, teaching others, or beginning a new course of study. Saraswati is also the goddess of music, so this combination also supports the beginning or refinement of any musical or artistic endeavor.
On June 1st at 11:47 am pacific Jupiter will move into Cancer marking an important shift. Jupiter is exalted in Cancer, allowing its qualities of wisdom, nourishment, protection, and spiritual growth to flourish more naturally. Over the coming year we may feel called to deepen our connection to home, family, community, and emotional well-being, all the natural indications of the sign of Cancer. To understand where you personally will receive Jupiter’s abundance and expansion depends on what house, relating to a specific area of life, Jupiter will be transiting. This is considered generally a very positive transit which is enhanced if Jupiter is transiting a strong house in your chart.
All of these happenings are in the background of a lunar Adhika Masa, the intercalary month that occurs every 2 years and 8 months to balance out the Sun and Moon. When this month happens, it is said that whatever practices you do are amplified manifold. While not considered the ideal timing for external pursuits, it carries a deep spiritual potency that expands our merit.
May this Full Moon help you find steady friendship within yourself, may Saraswati evoke wisdom in your pursuits, and may Jupiter create abundance in your life!
Love and Blessings,
Mrin
