Full Moon in Pisces- Sharad Purnima

This Full Moon in Pisces culminates on October 17th at 4:26 am pacific time, making the night of the 16th the moment to see the moon at its fullest.

Pisces is the last sign and the completion of the zodiac.  In Pisces the focus is on inner work, intuition and desire for spiritual knowledge.  It is dreamy, abstract and creative in its energy.  While Pisces is a strong sign for meditation and going beyond, the abstractness of it can seem less grounded.  With Rahu in this sign for this full moon that quality is amplified.  Rahu puts a concentrated focus, which can tend towards exaggeration or hyperfocus of that which is already present.  So with a Full moon that is already abstract we may feel an inability to see a well-defined path in front of us.  This full moon is asking us to lean into the abstraction, and the possible discomfort associated with it, without getting too lost or ungrounded in the process.

In India this Full Moon is Sharad Purnima, the full moon after the Durga Puja.  It is said that this full moon holds all the 16 phases of the moon within it.  It is a time to pray to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, prosperity and bounty.  This full moon ‘drips nectar’ so it’s customary to make a specific sweet (kheer) and charge it in the moonlight and then eat the blessed food.  We can extend this understanding a bit and ‘charge’ whatever we’d like in this coming full moon, including ourselves!

Maha Mritunjaya Puja Live Stream

Tomorrow night, October 15th 5:30 pm pacific

Starting this month I am organizing a monthly Puja with a priest in India.  All are welcome to attend to experience a puja.  This month we will be working with the Maha Mritunjaya Mantra and a fire ceremony.  This is the most widely used ceremony for strengthening vitality and overcoming health issues.

The puja is open and free to all, a donation for attendance is appreciated but not required.  While all will gain benefit from attending, the main benefit is reaped from those who name is given in the opening prayer.  If you would like to have your name or someone else’s put in the healing intention you can offer a donation here and send me a message here with the name and birth information if you have it.  The puja will be 2-3 hours long, and you are welcome to attend part or all of the ceremony.
