This Full moon in the sign of Gemini and the lunar house of Punavasu spans from

January 12 3:33 pm pacific to January 13th 2:26 pm pacific,

making the 12th night the best night to see the moon at its fullest in the night sky.

This Gemini moon at the last degrees of the sign indicates sandhi, the transition time in between.  Sandhi is when we have moved too much forward to look back but not quite enough ahead to know where we are going.  There is uncertainty at this point and a feeling of being neither here nor there.   Things may look bleak and dark.  Before we despair, we should look to the lunar house of this full moon, which is

Punavasu.  Here the ruling energy is Aditi, the Mother of the 12 Sun Gods who rule over the months.  Her energy relates to light and renewal, and a return to wholeness.  Hers is an ability to rebuild even after destruction, a hopeful message in the backdrop of so many levels of suffering on the planet at the moment.

The next day after the full moon is Makar Sankranti, when the Sun moves into Sidereal Capricorn.  Every month has a Sankranti, the day the sun changes signs, but this is one of the most important ones, as it is the Vedic official start of northern movement of the Sun. Seasonally, the northern movement of the Sun and longer days really started from the winter solstice, but January 14th is the official start date according to the Vedic calendar. Regardless of where we start from, the northern movement of the Sun is the beginning of Uttarayana, the cycle of divinity and the Gods. It is the start of the 6 month cycle of expansion and growth, and of all things auspicious.

Like the Sun, make forward progress this month.  Stretch yourself into new things.  Start new ventures, new spiritual practices.  Have reverence for natures cycles and have faith in their renewal.

And as always, reach out if I can help you on your journey.

Love and Blessings
