This Libra Full Moon in the lunar house of Swati culminates on May 1st at 10:23 am Pacific Time, with the night of April 30th offering the fullest view of the Full Moon in the sky. This Full Moon also marks Buddha Purnima—the birth, death, and enlightenment day of Sakyamuni Buddha. This is a day of compassion and self-restraint, as Buddha is a gentle manifestation of wisdom grounded in clarity and balance.

Astrologically, Buddha is connected to the planet Mercury. Mercury rules our intellect and all things connected to the rational mind- speech, communication, reading, and writing. Most importantly, Mercury governs our discrimination power and discernment. It helps us organize and categorize information and apply logic with precision. Sakyamuni Buddha was a great scholar and logician, but more than that, he demonstrated how a refined mind can lead to freedom from suffering.

With the Moon in Swati, there is a quality of independence and movement, yet also a need for inner alignment. Libra seeks balance, and Swati reminds us that true balance is not imposed from outside- it is cultivated through inner awareness and gentle adjustment.

On this day, consider where your mind may be scattered or pulled in different directions, and where greater discernment is needed. What are you taking in-through conversation, media, or thought- that shapes your inner world? And where can you bring more clarity, restraint, and compassion into your responses?

Even small efforts toward mindfulness on Friday can have a powerful steadying and clarifying effect on our restless minds.

Love and Buddha Purnima Blessings,

Mrin
